Stuart S. Levy is a retired Administrative Patent Judge who presided over 2,000 patent appeals involving, but not limited to, complex electrical, computer and physics issues, in three-judge panels.
Judge Levy is the founder of the D.C. Law Firm: Levy Intellectual Property Law. Judge Levy served a six-year term on both the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the George Mason University Research Foundation, and currently serves on the External Advisory Board of the Grove School of Engineering of City College of New York.
His career has earned him numerous recognition; including, the Vice President Al Gore’s Hammer Award for his work in creating a government that works better and cost less; several medals from the Department of Commerce and more recently, the Townsend Harris Medal. Judge Levy is a Legal 500 inductee as a top lawyer and has been featured in more than a dozen Bloomberg Law on-demand videos involving Patent law, practice, and procedure. In addition, Judge Levy is one of the primary authors of the legal treatise Electronic and Software Patents: Law and Practice, with his portion entitled “Maximizing Success in Patent Prosecution.”
Additionally, Judge Levy setup and chaired the 80-member MPEP Revision Committee, in which 18 teams and several special topic committees provided a five-year, comprehensive, word-by-word revision of the Manual of Patent Examining Procedure, and was a member of the team that authored chapter 900 entitled “Patentability.
